Your So Vain: MAC Face Chart ReCreation

30 Aug

Hey Dolls!

While checking out one of my fav beauty blogs, Princess Livia Beauty Blog, I ran across one of her recent posts where she attended the London V Festival. Here she watched MAC Senior Artist, Caroline Donnelly, create a look from a face chart she created.

I love a sexy dark eye and I LOVE a bright pink lip, so I was totally inspired to re-create this look!

Here’s the original face chart:

and here is the look created on her model:

Now my interpretation:

The look was very matte.  I initially used a NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean as a black base, but it creased on me a bit in the center of her lid.  Everyone raves about these pencils, so its got to be me!  Every time I use one it creases!  I need to practice with them more… perhaps I’m using to much product.  In the meantime, I’ll stick to MAC Paint Pots… they always work best for me!

Moving right along, over the pencil, I used MAC’s matte black shadow in Carbon… everyones staple.  The look called for the smokey eye to go pretty high above the crease and no highlighter on the brow bone.  I created a strong v in the outer crease area, which made the look very intense.

On to the lips!  I used the limited edition “Candy Yum Yum” lipstick from the recent Quite Cute Collection, and it pulled this look together.  Since it was such a strong eye and lip, no blush or highlighter was used.

As much as I loved the look, I couldn’t help but to spice it up a bit and add some sparkle!  I pulled out my limited edition “Later” pigment from last years Alice and Olivia Collection, which is a super dark blue black with loads of sparkle, and swept it over the lid.

I hate that this picture doesn’t pick up the sparkle, so you can’t get the full effect, but trust me, her eyes were blinging!  Since the lipstick I used was matte, I had to glam it up a bit.  I simply used MAC Lip Glass in “Clear”, and dotted on “Reflects Pearl” glitter pigment to make her lips sparkle.

Faces STAY BEAT roun’ these parts… even if we have no where to go! LOL

Are You Watching?

29 Aug

I AM!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers!

29 Aug

So like I know this song is meant for the “weekend” BUT I simply just COULDN’T wait!!  I LOVE this so!!

Hello, my name is Myisha and I am addicted to Rihanna!  Ughhh this girl!  I don’t care what you say, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – Rihanna can do NO wrong in my eyes!

I love the song and now I love it even more because of the video.  I’m so happy she took the “home video” approach as it just fit so perfectly!  It was very intimate and fun and made us feel even closer to her. Ok, Imma stop here before I really sound stan-ish, lol

ALSO… while I’m in the posting new video’s mood…

My girl Nicki Minaj also released a new video!  One of my fave songs off of her album, Fly, featuring Rihanna… Have a looksie!

I’m not gonna lie… I was all excited when the video began… but when she got out the car with that damn Marg Simpson wig… Like let that shit go already… anyway…

Now that leopard wig in the third scene I can get with… but I’m obsessed with leopard, so I don’t know it that counts, lol.

Final thoughts… mehhh.  It was arite… nothing to get excited about.  I liked how the flowers bloomed in the end tho! o_O

Oh!  What did I think of Ri Ri’s performance in the video… what do ya’ll think! Lol

P.s. This video was filmed awhile back and I heard it was never released because Ri was about to release something and she didn’t want to block her shine.  Umm yea… you coulda went ahead and let that one go boo…

My SUPER Small… YSL Cosmetics Collection

29 Aug

I’ve always been a major fan of Yves Saint Laurent, the high end couture line, but being WAYYYYY out of my tax bracket, I had no choice but to maintain that love from a far… really far.

Enter the cosmetic line.  I figured if I couldn’t rock the clothes (just yet) its only right I rock the more affordable (yet still expensive) make-up.  It would be the perfect place begin a a lil’ YSL collection.

When I saw the ad for the following two lip colors last year, I knew I had to have them. The packaging was luxurious and the collection was limited edition… not to mention they’re pink… my weakness!

Gloss Pur (Pure Lip Gloss) in “4”
Fard A Levres Rouge Pur (Pure Lipstick) in “Rose Tropical” (Tropical Pink)

Ok, lets start with the packaging…. LOVE IT!  So LUXE.    The lip gloss is a bright pink and its pretty pigmented.  The lighter your lips, the more color you’ll see of course, but even on my medium skin, I can see a good bit of color.  I personally didn’t purchase this to wear alone, rather to layer with the lipstick, but for a day when I want to keep it simple, this would be perfect.  Oh and it smells like watermelon!

Now on to the lippie.  Gorg shade of bumblegum pink!  Super bright and can be compared to MAC’s limited edition “Candy Yum Yum,” (I’ll do a comparison post later).  The color is not for the meek, but can totally be toned down with a darker lip pencil and lip gloss.

Lipstick and gloss swatched, then the mix of the two.  As you can see, the lippie is totally toned down with the gloss over it.

Now let me vent out a fustration!  A.S. Cooper was the only retailer in Bermuda that carried the YSL line and have now pulled it!  So this is as far as I’ve been able to get in my collection… two friggin products!  Not impressed AT ALL.  Now I have to wait until I travel to pick up the items I want and pay… tax!  As if it isn’t expensive enough! SMH

I LOVE this pic… I’m really considering printing and framing it…

So I think a nice lil pair of Tribute Sandals will be the next addition to my collection… yea right! lol  A girl can dream…

I WILL get them, no doubt, but in the mean time I think I’ll settle for the highly raved “Touche Eclat” concealer!

BANG!

You’re So Vain: Too Dolly

26 Aug

Sooo I decided to pull out an oldie but goodie, the MAC Too Dolly Palette from 2009’s Hello Kitty Collection.  I pulled up a tutorial on my trusted YouTube and set out to re-create, but it just wasn’t working because the chick in the video and my model were on complete opposite sides of the spectrum, complexion wise that is, so it was just not working out!

The look ended up being straight freestyle and I’m quite pleased with the way it came out… I’m calling this look “Too Dolly.”

And here’s the palatte…

When I found out about this line, I damn near went ape shit!  At this point I was really getting into make-up and was already a Hello Kitty freak!  The thought of the two brands merging was music to my ears.  I didn’t know exactly what to expect, but I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed.  Then I saw the packaging and #DIED!

Look at those colors!  There were two palettes in this collection, but of course I had to get the one with pink in it!  This was also my very first MAC palette.

As I stated, I was really just getting deep into makeup, (I always loved playing in makeup, but the obsession hadn’t develop until this point), so as far as I knew what you saw, was what you got.  NOPE!  These colors were pretty sheer as you can see, and back then I didn’t know anything about primers and bases, so I stayed frustrated trying to get the intensity I saw in the pan on my eyes!

Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t regret purchasing the palette!  As a matter of fact, if the opportunity presented itself, I’d buy it again, along with the other one, which was called, “Lucky Tom.”  As you see in the pic above, I used a white base underneath the shadows and voila!… we have intensity!

I figured while I’m on the topic, I might as well show the rest of the items I picked up from the collection.  I was SO pleased with myself! LOL

Top Row: Hello Kitty Double Sided Mirror and Too Dolly Eyeshadow Palette
Bottom Row: On The Prowl Nail Polish, Something About Pink Nail Polish, Strayin’ Lipstick, and Popster Lip Conditioner

As I’m sure you can imagine, now 3 years later, I’m kicking myself in the ass because there is SO much more I wish I got!  More lippies, some of the lip glasses, blushes, etc.  But like I said, I was only beginning my collection back then, and had no idea how deep into this makeup world I was going to go!

Now of course I could always hit up eBay and purchase most of these items for 10x’s their worth, but it ain’t that serious.  One thing I’ve learned over the years is that MAC tends to repremote a LOT of their items, especially the ones that go on to cult fave classic status.  In the mean time, I hope to run into one or two of the items when and if I EVER make it into a CCO.

Here is a swatch of Strayin’ Lipstick and Popster Lip Conditioner.

Oh!  Let me not forget the beloved cosmetic bag!

How to Love?

26 Aug

So I finally got to see Lil Wayne’s “How To Love,” video and I loved it!  I’m not sure exactly what I was expecting from it, but this wasn’t it…. nevertheless, I still loved it.  Kind of depressing, but thought provoking.  Extremely emotional.  Hopefully, maybe, it’ll inspire someone on a messed up path to straighten out.

Here it is…

Oh, and I saw you Tristen… sexy lil thang…

I also caught Beyonce’s lastest “1+1,” loved that too.  VERY Prince-esq… both the song AND the video.  (And by video, I mean very sexual… yea, from Bey!

Ughhhh this song is so damn sensual.  Emotional as well, but I can find emotions in EVERYTHING… its a special talent of mine, o_O.  The words.

I wonder if its like that every time Bey and Jay do it?  I’m convinced her life is one long music video anyway.

Enjoy Lovah’s!

Umm Hi…Hello: Lucy Hale

24 Aug

When I saw this pic of Lucy Hale, my heart skipped a beat!  Between that dress (OMG that dress!) and those shoes, Zanotti – I am in love!  And awe, as I didn’t know she had this in her!

If you don’t know who Lucy is, she’s one of the ladies on one of my FAV shows, Pretty Little Liars.  In a nutshell, its about a group of four high school girls whose friend (who was a TOTAL biatch, btw) dies, and some how, they’re linked to her death.  Its in its third season now, and we STILL don’t know the truth, but its slowly unraveling and the anticipation is killing me!

Who the HELL would’ve thought I’d be addicted to a show on the ABC Family channel! o_O

Part Two: Guerlain Bronzer Review – When I Got Home

20 Aug

Hi again!

So at the end of my time at the Guerlian counter in Gibbon’s Company, they laced up your girl with a few goodies!  Whoop Whoop!

Here’s a peek of what I got!

Not sure if this will be a new staple in Gibbon’s Co., but for the promotion, you received your Guerlain goodies in this sexy lil number…

I received the Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder and Terracotta Gloss.

This gorgeous bronze color is in shade 03 is a perfect brown color with very fine shimmer and to my liking – isn’t orange AT ALL!  (Which I mention in the review) As much as I LOVE “Jersey Shore,” I don’t wish to look like a cast member.

As I mentioned, minimal shimmer, so you don’t have to worry about looking like a disco ball if you apply all over the face.  The consistency of the powder is very smooth and silky, and can we take a second to talk about the scent?  WELL… if you’re sensitive to scent, this may not be the the bronzer for you, as its pretty strong.  A good strong, meaning it doesn’t bother me and it wears off quickly, but strong non-the-less.  I will describe the scent as very perfumery, if thats a word, and dare I say floral with musky undertones?  I’m not the best “scent” describer, but I do suggest you go check it out for yourself.

Here’s a swatch directly on my skin.  You can barely see it right!  Well thats because I got this baby PRE-Cup Match and Non-Mariners.  Right now I’m the darkest I’ve ever been in my life, so since its an exact match, I can easily use it as an all over powder, or as I suggested in the review, I’ll use it as a crease color with my eyeshadows.  Once I loose this tan, and I WILL loose it because I can’t keep color for anything, and get back to my “light-red” self – this color will be perfect for me.

I was totally surprised when I found this gloss in my bag!  It’s in shade “Grenade” (03), and I’d describe it as a pinkish berry shade.  The packaging is adorable and luxe looking.  The gloss has a scent as well, but very light and fruity… it kind of smells like Starbursts… who doesn’t love Starbursts?

As you can see its a darker berry color, so I’d probably reserve it for the fall.  Its pretty pigmented, but not opaque, and can be worn alone – though I bet it’d look great layered over a few lippies in my collection.

Nothing like a goodie bag right!?!
